The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) was established in 1960 and represents more than 30,000 members in more than 233 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The  AFP Manitoba Chapter was established in 1997 and is one of 16 Canadian Chapters representing over 3,500 fundraising professionals in Canada.

AFP, an association of professionals throughout the world, advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing and advocacy.
